For Doctors
The First Visit
The responsibility of the parent changes during different stages of their child's life. The parent should, at their first visit to the pediatric dental office, expect the following:
- Provide historical information, i.e., hospitalization, surgeries, medications, allergies, oral habits and dietary information.
- Clinical information, i.e., head and neck exam, soft tissue, dental and skeletal findings.
- X-rays if needed.
- Prophylaxis and fluoride if age appropriate.
- Oral hygiene instructions.
