How Can I Keep My Child's Teeth Clean?

Start your child's oral hygiene program early in infancy by gently wiping the gums with a wet washcloth after feedings. This will help prepare your baby for tooth brushing. After the first baby teeth erupt wipe them with a soft wet washcloth or soft toothbrush after feedings. Brush your child's teeth with them.

A child under ten does not have the dexterity to properly brush on their own. Brushing your child's teeth may be a difficult task. He may fuss and carry on, just remember it is for better oral health.

Use a mild fluoride toothpaste in small amounts (pea sized amount). Do not allow your child to eat the toothpaste because too much fluoride could cause problems with teeth and bones.
